Let’s say you’re going to buy “fish oil”, and you look at the capsules.  You figure, “Yep, looks like fish oil to me!” and you buy the bottle.  You’d be shocked to find out that there’s quite possibly just a small amount of fish oil in the capsule, and the rest is filler.  And not always good filler, either.  Some of the commercially available products have contents that are poorly absorbed; in fact, some of the ingredients can go right through your digestive system without ever being touched.  Why are they even in there then?  What good is that?

We’ve also all had that experience where we go to a health food store, stare at the 30-or-so different brands of vitamin C, and figure “I’ll just get the cheapest one, vitamin C is vitamin C” or “this package looks pretty professional, I’ll get that one”.  It’s a bit overwhelming, and given some of the “other” ingredients, it can actually be dangerous.

Let me tell you about our cat, Canuck.

Canuck is a 14 year old male orange tabby cat who looks and acts a lot like Garfield.  He can really be a bad kitty!  As he has aged, he has developed pretty bad arthritis, so it causes him to limp a lot.  Since it would hurt him to walk, he really would remain idle for most of the day.  The inactivity caused major constipation which actually resulted in sciatica.

Yes, our cat had sciatica.  He would be walking and his right hind leg would fall out from under him because of weakness.  Being a chiropractor, I did the thing I do best – ADJUST.  That’s right, I got my trusty activator and adjusted my cat.  We literally put him on a care plan and the results have been great.  His limping and his constipation are really under control now.  He moves around a lot more and is losing weight as a result.  He even had an evaluation and treatment with a veterinary acupuncturist.  We also added some supplements to his diet which have improved his digestion and joint mobility.

Does any of this sound familiar?  Kind of like a care plan for one of us, right?  Their bodies may be different in structure, but they sure do function the same. In fact, the vast majority of race horses have chiropractors.  The trainers know that chiropractic brings out the best in their horses, and the horses love it!

Here is the thing people, medicine definitely has its place in this world.  Without it, millions of lives would not have been saved.  But with the good, there is also the bad, such as misdiagnosis of diseases, allergies to medications, side effects of those medications, and possible ineffectiveness.  The point is, if we are taking medication as a daily aid to our dis-ease, are we really getting rid of the actual cause of that problem, or are we just patching it up?  And are the side effects really worth it?

The nervous system of your body controls and coordinates the function of every cell, tissue, organ and system of your body.  By removing interference in your nervous system through proper spinal alignment, it improves the transmission of energy and information from your brain to your body.  Your body already knows how to heal itself, why add chemicals to the mix if they are not needed?  If you have a choice to patch the problem or correct it at its root, what do you pick?
